Babysitting Skills & ER Info: 7/9

Dear MSC Members and Guests,

Are you already a babysitter or looking to become one? Parents will want to know you are ready to handle an unexpected medical emergency and keep their child safe. Our upcoming interactive class will cover common pediatric emergencies and teach you how to calmly and confidently assist the child and call 911 if needed.

Class Details:

👧 Who Should Attend: Pre-teens and teens, ages 10-16

👩‍⚕️ Instructor: Dr. Kim Roth, a pediatric emergency medicine doctor

Topics Covered:

  • Choking prevention and treatment
  • How to effectively stop bleeding (nosebleeds, cuts/lacerations)
  • Burn prevention and treatment
  • Recognizing an acute allergic reaction and administering an epi-pen
  • Recognizing an asthma attack and how to administer a child’s albuterol
  • Recognizing a seizure and how to keep the child safe until help arrives
  • Practicing how to call 911 and clearly stating the information to get the help you need

This class is a great precursor to becoming CPR certified or can really enhance the knowledge you already learned in CPR training. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to learn from an expert and babysit with confidence!
